STAR DRAGONS: Week of Nov 21

Bryan Park 7 Bryan has become very proactive in his learning. In Social Studies, Bryan went above and beyond expectations by asking to reflect on a class activity in his growth portfolio. In Makerspace, Bryan is taking control of his learning when requesting supplies and working incredibly hard on all of his projects.
David Jung 6 David has excelled the last couple weeks in Social Studies, using his work for the exemplary example in class. He has excelled in Math completing the hardest problem challenge of the year, and in STEM his ideas and process have been far ahead of his peers.
Kristy, Lee 8 Kristy "Navigates the present, and considers the future" by constantly showing effort in everything she does. By Kristy applying herself, she shows an awareness that actions today, will lead to success tomorrow. She shows this in her friendships, academics, and willingness to try new things. Congratulations, Kristy!


STAR DRAGONS: Week of Oct 26, 2016

Peter Song
6 Peter acted very responsibly during the fall festival in organizing and running the white diamonds booth. He stayed to attend to the balloon game when it wasn't his shift and helped get more candy when the white group ran out. He has acted responsibly since the beginning of the school year in all of his classes as well. Peter acts responsible in all aspects of being a student at KIS!
Kitty, Jun 8 Kitty showed what it looks like to "Act Responsibly" by, among other things, attended fall conferences....even though unfortunately her parents could not attend. Kitty now only come to conferences, she took the time to sit down with each of her teachers, have a thoughtful conversation about her progress, and show she was serious about her progress as a student. Kitty also shows responsibility through seeking extra input from her teachers outside of class, and is a dedicated reader to help her language acquisition.
Lucia Park 7 Lucia is an exceptionally responsible student. She is noted for her ability to understand, and act responsibly. She understands that the things she is a part of are larger than she is, and acts accordingly. A specific example of this is in her Set Design Club, where she always checking to make sure she is meeting deadlines, and helping others towards theirs as well. She always shows initiative and follow through in her daily activities. She is a model of responsibility for other students.

Kate Shin
7 Kate is consistently kind and caring with other students, and she shows respect for teachers by listening well, following instructions, acting considerately, and asking good questions. She's wonderful with kindergarteners when she goes to read with them in KIS Reads, and she shows respect for Gold group by helping to creatively problem solve for their StuCo booth.
Ella Kim 6 Ella displays the Respect Dragon in an exemplary way: she is always respectful to adults and other students. As an example, this week she was chosen to be the ambassador to help guide a new student. She also always has her work in on time and makes sure to check whenever she has questions. She participates well in class and helps with out of class activities. We are proud that she is also our colour group representative with STUCO and manages the announcements on Thursday morning where she is doing a great job. Congratulations!
Serena Jeon

Serena respects herself by taking her academics into her own hands. She constantly asks questions. She is also putting together a top-notch growth portfolio, showing how mush she respects her learning. She smiles and says hello to Ms. Shaw each morning, brightening Ms. Shah's day. Congratulations, Serena!

Congratulations to this weeks Star DRAGONS for exemplifying N- Navigate the present, consider the future!


Sally Kim 6 Sally has demonstrated that she is thinking about her future by making sure she collects the work she has to accomplish. She is helpful to other students by reminding them of upcoming events and responsibilities. In Life and Tech she has started an excellent blog. Well done.
Caroline Kim 7 Caroline is managing her time carefully and responsibly with Honor Band, Drama, and Badminton. She communicates well with her teachers and coaches, and she is actively coordinating her color group's outfits and StuCo fall festival.
Doomin Kim 8 Doomin is a navigating student and leader. He is engaged in class and in advisory. He has been quickly learning and steadily growing into his role in StuCo by becoming a strong president.

Minsoo Kim
7 Minsoo is always thinking of how to best contribute to the classroom environment: He brings positive enthusiasm to his classes every day and serves others with his energetic, joyful attitude, making the most of every experience. He also encourages and helps his peers when he finishes his work early, showing leadership as he takes initiative in his service of others. He displays a genuine concern for making a positive impact on his peers and living life to the fullest.
Kyle Tark 8 Kyle is showing budding signs of being a leader in and out of the classroom. He "Serves Others" by being inclusive of all students, and willing to help in any way he can. Kyle makes a strong effort to connect to others through his language usage, and connecting to others through his helpful attitude.
James Hyun 6 James has taken on a leadership and protector role in his advisory and in his classes by ensuring that everyone is respectful and positive toward each other. As well, he is a technology leader in Science class. Leadership skills are also obvious in other classes especially Math. Well done!

Congratulations to this weeks Star DRAGONS for exemplifying G- Get Global!

John KIm 6 John's international experience has helped him grow into a lovely student. He is also very helpful toward his other classmates. As well as being a good student he participates very well in athletic pursuits. Connecting language is also a facet that is well exhibited as he consistently redirects other students to use it.Well done!
Sam Cho 8 Sam has shown great interest in American Football and researching team’s home cities. While at Hamdeok Beach, Sam, his teachers, and his classmates had fun playing football on Adventure Day. Sam is always using connecting language and is willing to help new students. Has a great sense of humor in English, showing he understands nuances of culture and language. Congratulations on Getting Global, Sam!
Phillip Kong 7 Phillip is welcoming and friendly to all students. He has lived abroad multiple times, travels often, and shares his experiences with others. He is open minded and empathetic toward other cultures.

Congratulations to this weeks Star DRAGONS for exemplifying R- Respect ourselves and each other!

Daisy Yoon 7 Daisy has shown respect for her teachers and classmates by sharing her ideas in class and treating others respectfully. She listens well in her classes and demonstrated honesty in her Social Studies class.
Victoria Kim 6 Really enjoys Health and Fitness. Very attentive in class and shares her energy/excitement with others. Sent teacher several emails about how much she is enjoying class and wanting to do well. Because of her positive affirmation toward teachers, teachers have felt valued as educators.
Spencer Kim 8 Spencer has shown tremendous respect to his teachers and peers. He is often seen staying behind class to help organize equipment, push in chairs and help out. He is thankful to his teachers and able to go with the flow with a great attitude. Great work Spencer.

Congratulations to this weeks Star Students for exemplifying R- Respect ourselves and each other!

Kyle Tark
7 Kyle is consistently on task, works well with partners, and communicates respectfully. He often includes others and uses the connecting language well. He has transitioned well to our school as a new student and persevered in giving his presentation in class.
Yubin Park 8S Respecting Others and yourself.

Yubin is always willing to help out in Advisory and participate in class. She is very aware and her focus is amazing.

She has a great sense of humor and is always on top if her responsibilities.
Yubin respects her teachers and the process of learning.

Victor Kho 8K Victor is a model of respectfulness; he always greets everyone cheerfully making sure to go by most of his teachers' rooms each and every day. We were also quite impressed that he handled the responsibility of multiple practices and performances as he was in both band and the orchestra. Plus, his work has improved with meeting deadlines more often and displaying a more energetic attitude in class.
Natalie Kim 6 Natalie has shown consistent respect and responsibility during classes with her teachers and classmates. She respects her school, environment and community as well. Natalie has a positive attitude and is an asset to KIS!
